JEEVANI NEPAL is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation start to promote organ donation in 2017 in Nepal by philanthropists and medical professionald led by Dr. R N SHAH. It is a registered NGO with social welfare souncil and has office in Kathmandu. Jeevani Nepal is started by a group of like-minded and concerned medical and non-medical professionals committed to increasing the reach of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act. The government of Nepal passed this act in 2016 to broaden the concept of organ donation and stop commercial dealings in organs, especially kidneys. It is now possible to not only donate one's eyes, but also other vital organs like the heart, lungs, liver, pancreas amd kidneys.
The mission of JEEVANI NEPAL is to ensure that every Nepalese who is sufering from end stage organ failure be provided with the 'The Gift of Life' through the life saving organ
The organisation envisages accomplishing this mission through the following objectives:
To create public awareness among a cross-section of the population.
To train health care professionals in transplant co-ordination.
To counsel families of "Brain Death" victims to donate their loved ones' organs.
To create a computerized network for logistic support for organ donation in hospitals and the utilization of organs.
To liaise with Government to pass favourable legislation that will help increase organ donation in Nepal.
Networking with other organ procuring organisations in the country.
Raising resources to promote organ donation eficiently.
